Debbie Lydon

I’ve held the position of Branch Secretary since 2012, previously being an Assistant Secretary and a steward since 2005.
I am a member of Regional Council, Regional Committee, North East Provincial Council a member of the National Joint Council. Thus I’m well placed to ensure our members voices are heard at a regional level and national level.

I believe we achieve great things for our members, being committed to the cause and ensuring that our branch is such a strong force in challenging times.

Stewards and officers take on branch, regional and national positions and give the time and effort to ensure that we’re pulling together and moving in the right direction. I’m very proud of our branch and what we’ve achieved in the past few years, sometimes in really difficult circumstances.

We work with a number of different employers, public and private sector, community and voluntary and with a membership of nearly 4000 we are kept very busy in the branch office.

Each year officers and stewards give up their time to ensure we have a presence at Local Government conference, National conference, LGBT conference, Retired Member’s conference and Women’s conference, not only do we attend but we take an active role in writing and presenting motions to these conferences which influence the work and campaigns of the union.
