For over 13 years the Northern TUC has led Reclaim the Night Events across the North East. Hundreds join us every year to protest, educate and organise. As trade unionists, we stand united against the epidemic of male violence against women.
On the 13th March at 6pm the Northern TUC is supporting a doorstep vigil and we stand in solidarity with sisters across the country. Please share our Facebook event https://fb.me/e/1z3nibd8d.
Join the Northern TUC women’s group by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and help us campaign to dismantle institutional sexism, racism and other forms of discrimination.
Tell us how you are taking part by sharing your images and messages with us on the TUC Northern facebook group and on twitter @tucnorthern please use the hashtag #reclaimourstreets
Events over the last week, with the disappearance of Sarah Everard as she was walking in her local neighbourhood, has brought the issue to the forefront of people’s minds, with many females sharing stories of their own harassment and abuse on social media.
On average, 3 women are killed each week, usually by a partner or ex-partner and the Labour MP Jess Philips read out the names of the victims as she does each year.
We demand safety. We demand justice. We demand equality.
