The Durham Miners’ Gala is the largest annual gathering of trade unionists in the UK. Trade unionists from across the country descend on Durham city to celebrate the mining industry. It dates back to 1871 when Durham Miners’ Association organised the first Gala in Wharton Park, Durham. In 2022, the Durham Miners’ Gala takes place on Saturday, 9th July.
